Do's and Don'ts

What we can take, what we cannot, and why. These rules match the guidance on our Facebook page.

Yes, put this in the trash

  • Household trash

    Regular bagged garbage, weekly pickup.

  • Bagged pet waste

Kitty litter, dog waste, and anything wet. Bag it first. Wet litter sticks to the dumpster like glue.

  • Cooled ashes, bagged

Ashes have to be fully cool, then boxed or bagged. Wet ashes harden like concrete and eat the bottom out of the container.

  • Cardboard

    Broken down, inside the container.

  • Most spring cleaning

Call ahead for bulk items so we know to expect them. If we cannot take it all in one run, we come back.

No, these stay out

  • Large appliances

Fridges, freezers, ovens, washers, dryers, water heaters. The landfill charges $40 per appliance and can reject the whole load.

  • Wet paint and oil

Our truck bodies have drains. Wet paint or oil can end up on the road and in a neighbor's yard. Open cans and let them dry out first.

  • Tires

Car and truck tires are not accepted.

  • Batteries

Automotive and lithium-ion batteries need a different disposal path.

  • Heavy metals

Scrap metal, appliances with metal housings, and similar items.

  • Heavy lumber

    Beams, railroad ties, landscape timbers.

  • Concrete and rocks

Even in small amounts. Call and we can help sort out where it goes.

  • Chemicals

Pesticides, solvents, pool chemicals, anything labeled hazardous.

  • Skunks

Please. Real rule. Real serious. Call and we can help sort it.

In-town spring cleaning: call the office before pickup day so we know to expect extras. Put the bulk out with your regular garbage. Anything we cannot take, we leave to the side.

Some routes run with only one driver. If something is too heavy for one person to lift, we may leave it. Call and we will figure something out.
